As the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts celebrates 20 years on campus, its 2022–23 season promises up to two dozen acts, eight more than the previous season.
Aisha Ahmad Post, the center’s executive director, scoured the globe for a mix of renowned and new artists. The new season “highlights all the things we’re known for in terms of inclusive, forward-thinking programming,” she says.
The center is partnering with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science for the National Geographic Live Series. The three-part series will explore the history of Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma, how bears and humans can coexist peacefully, and rock climbing to break scientific ground.
From bluegrass and opera to “Winnie the Pooh” and “Friends” parodies, the coming season of Newman Center Presents offers something for everyone. One free event, scheduled for Sept. 29, features BANDALOOP, a vertical performance group that will glide, dance and fly with style on the outside walls of the University of Denver. BANDALOOP is known for seamlessly weaving dynamic physicality with intricate choreography and climbing technology to turn the dance floor on its side.
