“Fast-Track” program specifically designed for recent college graduates

DENVER— The Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver will launch a newly designed one-year MBA program specifically for students who have recently graduated with an undergraduate business degree from an AACSB accredited business school.

The program, which will launch in August 2010, is designed to encourage the best and brightest undergraduate students to move directly into the graduate school track. It will provide the same academic rigor and innovative learning as the school’s traditional two-year MBA, but in a fast-paced format that leverages the momentum students have gained during their undergraduate business studies.  Students can reduce the amount of time spent out of the workforce and reduce tuition dollars spent.

In addition to taking MBA courses designed to explore the macro- and micro-level details of key business functions, techniques and theories, students will be able to tailor their curriculum by selecting a concentration in topics ranging from marketing, innovation, entrepreneurship, finance, accounting, to real estate and construction management. This will allow students to gain a deeper understanding of their chosen field before they pursue a career.  Students will also engage in live consulting projects, development of business plans, and career and professional development to build their experience base and prepare them for the job-market.

Business ethics and values-based leadership theories will be integrated throughout the program’s core courses. “The Daniels College of Business is ranked by the Aspen Institute among the top 20 business schools in the world for integrating social and environmental issues into the MBA program,” says Daniels dean Christine Riordan.  “Students in the one-year program will emerge with not only the critical thinking skills and the technical knowledge that the marketplace expects from an MBA graduate, but also with an ability to navigate in times of changing business models.”

The one-year MBA is a highly selective program that requires the student to start the program within eleven months of receiving an undergraduate business degree.  Students are not required to have professional work experience, though an internship is preferred.  Information about admissions requirements, tuition and fees and financial aid is available at  daniels.du.ed/oneyearmba.

As the eighth-oldest collegiate school of business in the country, Daniels has built a curriculum that focuses on important issues such as ethical business practice, globalization, entrepreneurship, and values-based leadership. Daniels programs are nationally ranked by US News, Business Week, and the Financial Times. Daniels was just named #20 in the world for teaching of business ethics by the Aspen Institute. Daniels offers undergraduate, graduate, and executive degree programs for traditional students and working professionals, and offers state-of -the-art executive education and leadership development.
