Krishen Mehta (MBA ‘72), a former partner with PwC, is senior Global Justice Fellow at Yale University. Krishen is director of Tax Justice Network in London and an advisor to the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Program in New York. He and his wife are co-founders of Asia Initiatives, a nonprofit devoted to education and social equity in South Asia.

Wendell Pryor (JD ’82) is on the board of trustees for Adams State University. He currently is director of Chaffee County Economic Development Corp. and an adjunct professor/lecturer with the University of Colorado School of Public Affairs, where he recently was appointed a senior fellow for the Buechner Institute.

Christine Austin (BA ’84, PhD ’07) has been appointed to a four-year term on the Higher Learning Commission Institutional Action Council. Christine is director of assessment and institutional effectiveness and professor of student affairs administration at Arkansas Tech University.

Chuck Passaglia (JD ’87), an employment attorney in Colorado, has recently published “Can I Bring My Pet Monkey to Work? Answers to 45 of the Wildest Workplace Law Questions” (Employment Law Solutions Inc., 2020).

Emily Hobbs (JD ’00) has joined Michael Best, a full-service law firm, as a labor and employment partner in Denver. Emily has nearly two decades of employment law counseling and employment litigation experience.
David Tappeiner (JD ’00) has opened a new law practice, DT Law Partners, in Santa Barbara, California. Born and raised in California, David moved to Colorado to attend law school and practiced law in Denver before returning to Santa Barbara in 2006. He is an expert in estate and trusts.
William Turner Jr. (BSBA ’00) has been elected secretary to the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) board of directors. William, a principal at Path21 Architecture & Planning in Denver, will serve as secretary in 2021–22. He ran on a platform of providing leadership on climate change, a commitment to diversity and revising AIA’s leadership structure.

Chris Tuey (MCIS ’01) has joined the faculty at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, as professor of practice in the physician assistant program. Chris is a licensed physician assistant. He also has experience as a software development engineer and an information technology manager.

Barri Tinkler (PhD ’04) has been named interim dean for the College of Education at Missouri State University. Barri joined MSU in 2019 as a professor and associate dean. Before joining MSU, Barri was on the faculty at Towson University in Maryland, Shepherd University in West Virginia and the University
of Vermont.

Pezh Shoureshi (MS ’06) has opened a new dermatology practice, Harpeth Valley Dermatology, in Thompson’s Station, Tennessee. Pezh is a board-certified dermatologist with a special interest in complex medical dermatology and cutaneous oncology. He earned a medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, and completed his dermatology residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He is joined at the practice by his wife, Megan Morrison, also a board-certified dermatologist

Samuel Fries (MT ’07) has been promoted to senior manager at Schroedel, Scullin & Bestic CPAs in Youngstown, Ohio. Samuel is a certified public accountant and certified financial planner. In addition to assisting clients with financial planning, he will focus on the manufacturing, real estate and farming industries.
Demetrios S. Hadgis (MS ’07) and his wife, Nancy, are thrilled to announce the birth of identical twin boys, William and Nicholas, Nov. 18, 2020, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. The family resides in Rumson,

Lauren Karagozian (JD ’07, MBA ’08) joined the Strategic Advisory Board of TrustLayer Inc. in San Francisco. TrustLayer connects all stakeholders in the insurance life cycle. Lauren will provide technical and strategic advice to the board and management. She specializes in understanding construction contracts and subcontracts, oil and gas industry agreements and legal documents from different industries.

Linda Stanley (JD ’09) was elected the 11th Judicial District Attorney for Fremont, Chaffee, Park and Custer counties in Colorado. She previously was a hearing officer for the state of Colorado, a municipal prosecutor for the city of Pueblo, and deputy district attorney for the 10th Judicial District in Pueblo County.
Don Toussaint (JD ’09) was appointed by Colorado Gov. Jared Polis as a district court judge in the 18th Judicial District that includes Arapahoe and Douglas counties. He previously was an Arapahoe County Court judge and presided over a criminal docket.

Brian Hernandez (MPS ’10) was promoted to chief storytelling officer for Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area of central Texas, a nonprofit community partnership that delivers sustainable workforce development solutions to a nine-county area.

Thomas Lyman (BA ’11) of Greeley, Colorado, recently published a study on young North Korean defectors integrating to South Korean society in the Working Paper Series of the Refugee Law Initiative as part of his graduate work in refugee protection and forced migration at the University of London.
Jeffrey Wing (MA ‘11) has joined Dewberry, a national planning, design and construction firm, as the water/wastewater market segment leader for the Raleigh, North Carolina, office. Jeffrey has more than 34 years of experience. His area of expertise is water and wastewater projects in developing countries, including bios and filters for water treatment and biodigesters for sanitation/energy development.

Donald DeAngelis (MPS ’13) has been hired as regional manager of the Southern Colorado Health Network in Colorado Springs. Donald has worked for Bellandi Group South, One Colorado and The Independence Center, all located in Colorado Springs, and the Maya Health Alliance in Guatemala.
Ella Rachel Kerr (MBA ’13) has founded a content and ghostwriting business after years of working for the corporate public relations world. The purpose of the company—Ella Kerr, LLC—is to help others tell their stories, especially those who might not otherwise have a chance.
Maria Khan (BSBA ’13), former goalkeeper for DU’s women’s soccer team, has joined the Pakistan national women’s football team. After leaving DU, Maria played midfielder in the United Arab Emirates while attending graduate school. She had long hoped to play for Pakistan because both parents are Pakistani, and she is eager to represent the country.

Amanda Alexander (BA ’14) was promoted to president and creative director for Peyote Bird Designs in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She joined the company in 2014 as sales and marketing associate.
2015
Jill Hamilton (BA ’15) was selected as an emerging leader by the Environmental Law Institute’s Emerging Leaders Initiative. The initiative was formed to connect, support and foster dialogue among the rising stars in environmental law and policy.
Anne Woods (JD ’15) was appointed by Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado as judge for La Plata County. Anne has been a senior deputy public defender for the state of Colorado since 2015. She has worked in Durango throughout that time and applied to be a county judge because she wanted to serve La Plata County. She plans to bring a heavier focus on rehabilitation and restorative justice practices, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Denise White (MA ’16) has been named director of communications for the city of Aspen. Denise has more than 20 years of communications and strategy experience, most recently with the city of Boulder, where she directed and executed communications for the parks and recreation departments and several citywide initiatives.
2017
Erin Mannen (Postdoctoral fellowship ’17) has joined Boise State University as an assistant professor and as director of the Boise Applied Biomechanics of Infants Laboratory. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at DU’s Center for Orthopaedic Biomechanics.
2018
Ashley Scott (CRTG ’18) is the new executive director of communications and public relations for the Victoria Independent School District in Victoria, Texas. Ashley will lead the communications team to promote the district’s brand, provide timely information to the community, and support the superintendent with communication tools, administrative services and technology. She most recently worked as the digital media specialist for the city.
Andy Stockinger (BS ’18) co-founded The Fourteener Fund to provide financial aid, college information and career advice to Colorado high school students who are first-generation college students or who come from schools that lack college- and career-readiness programs. The fund aims to provide support to students in Aurora Public Schools.

Benjamin Lutter (JD ’20)
joined Gant Law in Greeley, Colorado, as an associate attorney. During law school, Benjamin represented victims of domestic violence during his clinical practice. He will provide legal services in family law, probate, elder law and criminal defense for Weld and surrounding counties.
