Founded in 1966 by novelist and DU alumnus John Edward Williams (BA ’49, MA ’50), Denver Quarterly is the oldest, continuously publishing literary arts journal west of the Mississippi. The journal is celebrating its 55th anniversary by revisiting its 1986 John Williams special issue, which included a significant excerpt from his unfinished novel, “The Sleep of Reason.” This fall, Denver Quarterly 56.1 will publish a new edition of Williams’ text along with three essays discussing his life and works.
